TRANSFORM

Training & Re-Skilling for Smart Manufacturing

An Erasmus+ Project

What is TRANSFORM?

TRANSFORM2 (7)

Project Overview

The manufacturing industry is undergoing rapid digital transformation, however, many professionals and businesses face a digital skills gap that limits their ability to adapt.

Training and Re-skilling for Smart Manufacturing (TRANSFORM), is an Erasmus+ KA210-VET initiative created to enhance digital competencies in the manufacturing sector.

It is a small-scale partnership in vocational education and training, focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Project Partners

AIM Centre, Ireland (Lead Partner)

Ireland’s leading centre for AI adoption for Manufacturing & Services, helping businesses integrate practical and responsible AI solutions.

ESTIA Institute of Technology, France

Esteemed French engineering and innovation institute specialising in advanced technologies, industry collaboration, and applied research.

IESE Business School, Spain

A globally recognised business school based in Barcelona, known for leadership development, executive education, and innovation-focused programmes.

The Journey

Digital transformation in manufacturing is not a single technology project - it is a journey that connects people, processes and technology to create lasting business value. The TRANSFORM Journey highlights three interconnected stages that help organisations navigate this transformation successfully.

Stage 1: Smart Manufacturing

Connected technologies such as AI, data analytics, cyber-physical systems and predictive maintenance generate valuable operational data and create new opportunities for efficiency, sustainability and innovation.

Stage 2: The Digital Thread

This stage transforms data into actionable insight by connecting information across design, engineering, production, maintenance and supply chains. By creating a single source of truth, organisations gain:

  • Real-time visibility
  • Improved collaboration
  • Faster, better-informed decisions throughout the product lifecycle

Stage 3: Secure Digital Transformation

Governance, cybersecurity, OT/IT convergence and human-centred approaches ensure that connected operations remain resilient, trustworthy and scalable. As manufacturing ecosystems become increasingly interconnected, security and trust become essential enablers of innovation rather than barriers to it.

The Complete Journey

Together, these three stages form the TRANSFORM Journey - a connected pathway where data, technology and people work together
to drive smarter decisions, stronger resilience and more sustainable manufacturing.

By integrating operational excellence with digital innovation, manufacturers can unlock the full potential of Industry 4.0 while building
the foundations for the future of Industry 5.0
